Website Update

UPDATE:
I have finally made the plunge and added frames to my website, along with some various color and graphic corrections. It is my hope that things will be a bit easier to read now. Comments welcome.

**EDIT**
I have also added a "NoFrames" section so that people whose browsers do not support frames may still view my site. I'm new to this so I hope it works. If you see something that is off please let me know.

Movie, Popcorn, and Extra Cheese

So Sunday night my boyfriend (nullzeit) and I went into San Francisco to a little place called the Dark Room, to see a production that they put on there called "Bad Movie Night". For a mere $5 ticket price you are treated to a bad (really bad) movie and free water and popcorn. (Good popcorn, too!) You can even bring in your own snacks and beer, should you desire. The event is hosted (and by that I mean heckled by) a fine group of spastic folks who not only yell comments at the screen, but they even encourage you to do so as well. It's like Rocky Horror meets... well... any other bad movie. It was awesome. :)

Oh, and in case you're interested, the movie we saw was the 1975 pilot movie for the TV series Wonder Woman. Woo hoo! Let's hear it for bad acting, infectious theme songs, stupid Nazis, plastic airplanes, and golden wonderbras!

Upcoming presentations include Labyrinth (which I actually never thought was bad) and Killer Klowns from Outer Space! (Which I can only imagine is.) Oh, the cheese!

S.O.S.

Lifted from the LJ of veedub:

The flag should never be displayed with the union down,
except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.

—THE FLAG CODE, Title 36, U.S.C., Chapter 10, § 176 (a).

I am posting this on my LiveJournal in opposition to The Patriot Act, which represents an extreme danger to the life, property and liberty of all persons living in the United States.

Ha ha ha ha ha!

Which one do you think you or your child would choose? The Pope? Or Harry Potter?

I swear... it really just makes the pope look stupid. So to that I say... yay! :)

I'm eagerly awaiting my copy to arrive tomorrow... Chas gets it first, but he's a fast reader.

From MoveOnPAC.org: : Fire Karl Rove!

On Sunday, Newsweek magazine revealed that Karl Rove – as you know, the President's closest political advisor -- was responsible for disclosing the identity of undercover CIA agent Valerie Plame.

The agent, Valerie Plame, worked on weapons of mass destruction for the agency and by exposing her identity, the leaker could have jeopardized the lives of other covert agents in the field. At best, it was recklessly irresponsible; at worst, it was malicious; and either way, the leaker undermined our national security.

President Bush has pledged to fire anyone who helped leak Plame’s name to the press. Now we know that the person responsible was Karl Rove. Please take a moment to sign the petition telling the President to keep his promise now at:

NEW! Witch Eye #11

Crossposted to

Hello all!

It was a bit delayed due to us learning the new software, but it is here and we are quite proud of it. It is with great pride that I am finally able to announce the arrival of Witch Eye #11: Secrecy in Our Craft.

In this issue we have attempted to address a concern that many have had of our tradition, and of the Craft at large. While some of us are quite secretive about our practices, others are much more open. Does secrecy help or harm us in the long term? How do we know which is the correct approach for us? What specific things should or shouldn't be kept  secret? And perhaps most importantly, in the face of these differences, how do we get along with each other?

Witch Eye #11. Click HERE to order!

Highlights for this issue include:

Why Have Secrets: A Pentacle of Elusion

Knowledge Hard Won

The Secret War of the F(a)eri(e) Tradition

The Pentacles and the Tree

Hidden Powers : Discovering Secret Identities

Pagan Ministry

Secrets: The Balance of Power and Risks

...as well as some beautiful art, poetry, and even a little bit of Feri humor!
(For a full list of content and contributors, please visit our website.)

Current issues are $8. Back issues are $8.50 (Check website for availability.) Shipping in the U.S. is FREE. International customers please contact us prior to ordering for shipping rates to your country. CA residents please add 7.25% sales tax.

Sleep... perchance to dream...

I got to sleep in this morning and had a rather odd dream.

First off, Daniel was driving me to my mother's house. (No... that's not the strange part. Well... it *is* a bit odd since he doesn't drive, so I guess it's strange, but that part seemed actually normal at the time, rather the way that flying monkeys seem normal in a dream, but anyway...) On the way there I absentmindedly (nothing strange there) gave him directions to my old house in Dublin, where I grew up. When I looked up and realized what street we were on, I couldn't immediately identify the house as it, and it's next door neighbors, had radically changed. To the right, the house was now purple, with a stucco wall around the entire yard. Round columns rose over the top capped with conical tops that were lavender. The whole thing seemed like a suburban fairy tail castle in progress.

When I got out of the car to take a closer look, I saw that the house in which I spent my childhood, it seemed, had been transformed into a Mexican restaurant complete with wooded grounds and an elaborate creek/fountain. I walked up the wooden stairs to see a nice patio dining room filled with a smattering of customers and some wait staff. The hostess seemed to recognize me on sight and said that I was "Jon's mom", whom another staff member also echoed. Even though I had no idea who "Jon" was, I psychically seemed to know that they knew who I was and so I waited for a moment to chat with them and perhaps get a tour so that I could re-live my childhood by looking around and remembering where things were. The staff was rather busy and so I was left to explore some of the areas that didn't have customers on my own, realizing that it had been transformed so utterly that I could not exactly place what had been where. Daniel had been waiting out in the car the whole time, and I felt that he was getting tired of waiting for me, and so I returned telling him that I wouldn't be much longer, to which he smiled that cute smile of his and with genuine happiness and affection he told me to take my time. I was relieved and went back in the hopes to make a formal leave with the staff. This time I walked up what appeared to be a wooden "creek", which is to say a type of fountain that comprised a winding chute that when filled with water from above would act as a type of creek-like fountain. I walked up to the area where I had spoken with the hostess and, seeing that they were too busy to talk, waved a goodbye and then made my way back to the car.

I awoke rather melancholy and nostalgic. The melancholy evaporated rather quickly, but I find myself filled with a desire to go and see that house soon. A lot of memories are there...

Science? In Weblogs?

I got the idea from cangelo's LJ:

Take the MIT Weblog Survey

My day...

Had a nice day today... (Ooops... I guess I mean yesterday now...) Daniel and I went out for a picnic (how wholesome!) at Contra Loma regional park, near our home. It was nice... sat on a hill underneath a tree in the shade and had sandwiches and just talked about... nothing... It was nice.

Then we ran some errands... later we finished off the Alias Season 3 that we had been addicted to. All in all a nice day...

Maybe another time(lord)

Tonight my fellow geeks saw the birth of the 10th Doctor in the season finale of the newly revamped BBC hit Doctor Who.

David Tennant is the new Doctor Who...

Although I wasn't really ready to let go of Christopher Eccleston's 9th Doctor, I'm excited to see the series that I loved as a child move on into the future, only this time with good acting, writing, and special effects. Yay team!

Now I just have to wait until Christmas for its return special before the new season starts again in March.

From MoveOn.Org: 500,000 signatures needed today to expose Iraq lies

I'm writing to ask you to join me in signing a MoveOn PAC petition demanding real answers from President Bush regarding the "smoking gun" Downing Street Memo.

http://www.moveonpac.org/tellthetruth/

To help get the truth about why we invaded Iraq, please sign this letter today.

The Downing Street memo is called a "smoking gun" because it contains the minutes from a British cabinet meeting in July of 2002, 6 months before the war began. During that meeting high ranking British officials reported that the Bush administration admitted it was already determined to invade Iraq, and was "fixing" intelligence about WMD's to justify the war.

This, of course, contradicts everything President Bush has told us about how he chose war as a last resort, and made that decision because he thought he had solid intelligence about the Iraqi WMD threat.

Bush has refused to even respond to the memo, but after Tony Blair's visit this week the pressure is really building. Representative John Conyers of Michigan is gathering 500,000 signatures and comments from American voters to take directly to President Bush at the White House gates and demand real answers. Please sign today and help get out the truth.

Thanks!

QUIZ: Which Doctor are you???

A bit of silliness...

8thdoctor

You are the eighth Doctor! Friendly and warm, you
are the most human of all the Doctors. Your
sense of style is a bit old-fashioned. You have
a bit of trouble figuring out exactly who you
are at first, but no worries. Eventually you'll
find your way.
