I had started a tarot project long ago, but shelved it so that I could focus more energy on my business. Recently I was asked to join a group of other Feri practitioners in order to create a collaborative tarot deck based on the symbols of our tradition. I was assigned the Magician and the Hermit, so naturally I decided to do the High Priestess. ;)

Who's the cutie on the Magician card?
I'm glad you're doing this. There have been other tarot decks that have come out recently that are artful, but for all intents and purposes are no good to do a reading. I like the images you have here, and feel like I would be able to get some good meaning from these cards.
I like them both, Storm, and I have a question: Why a naked man and robed woman? I am wondering if it is a)the woman model wanted to be clothed b) you are a gay man c) the cards really needed those naked and clothed energies in your artist's mind.
I ask because the difference *really* struck me, and also I always laugh when I use Stevee's deck (which I adore - the only deck I use anymore) that the women are all shapes and sizes and the men are all his type! No fat men in the Cosmic Tribe!
(And if you ever decide to do a Hermit card, I am a double Hermit and would be happy to pose with a lantern and the 3 headed animal of your choice).
Your Magus needs to scrub his weenie. It's green. Nice cards though.
Well, I'm glad you asked!
There are actually a few reasons... one reason is that I actually started the High Priestess card first, and my model was not a nude one. I really wanted her for this because I respect her as a Feri priestess and she's a friend of mine. Another reason is that, as the High Priestess, she represents "hidden knowledge", or "that which is veiled". Her robes are traditionally blue, which signifies the deep or god self, while the Magician, to me, represents the raw-ness of being that leads to mastery of awareness through the physical form (represented here by his nakedness and the tools of the four physical elements). It has nothing to do with "I like nude boys and not nude girls" (OK.. it has little to do with that!)My Empress is beautifully naked and should be posted in the next week.
So the answer to your questions are.. d) all of the above. ;)
Ooooh! How cool! I would love to have you pose for me... I'm not sure if I could arrange it with you in time for this project, though... the Hermit is one that I am expected to have finished for the group I'm working with and it needs to be done by the end of September. I am also rather limited in terms of being able to travel (pretty much stuck here during the day, although I can occasionally get out) and I know your schedule must be insane. I'll put it out there just in case, though... If you are able (and willing) to travel out to Antioch (or to Pittsburg BART) then I would love (love, love, LOVE) to invite you into my temple/studio for a photo shoot. And if not for this project, then just about for any other one I can think up.
And then maybe I can get you to sign a few copies of your book for me, too?
And thank you. I'm glad you like my cards, so far. :)
Why is it all the gay men hate fig leaves so?
Oh, wait... I get it. Nevermind. ;)
heh...that was **exactly** the question i was going to ask, lol!
I repeat! Who's the cutie on the magician card?
You're not a very patient person, are you? ;)
As soon as I get permission to publicly release his name then I'll let you know. In the meantime just know that he is a friend of mine, he's 19, and we did the photoshoot a few months ago.
Beautiful!
When are you all planning on having the completed deck? I'm looking forward to seeing more.
hehe... see below. :)
Thank you! :) I'm not really sure... I have a lot of ongoing projects right now... the tarot deck... a couple books... some more art pieces... meditation CDs... I'll post more as I get closer to completion! :)
Yay! That's what I like to hear! :) Thank you.
i'm just glad i'm not the only one ruled by hormones occasionally...okay, often!
